BYU Invitational

This past weekend, BYU hosted their annual fall tournament. This weekend went pretty well, the girls played tough and we enjoyed the great weather!!

We had a great showing from Boise State, Wyoming, Utah State and Weber. It was a great tournament and the BYU players were able to see where they are and what they have to look forward to this coming semester.

New Player, New Season

This past summer, BYU Women's Tennis said goodbye to an amazing player:

Megan Price
However, we have gained a fresh new face....

Mackenna Maddox
Mackenna comes to us from McKinney, Texas. She is excited about this new season and new team.

This past weekend, BYU Women's tennis went on their annual team retreat. It was HILARIOUS to say the least. What do you get when you put a bunch of intense and driven girls together? Our amazing coaches, Lauren Jones-Spencer and James Ludlow put on this fun, exciting and intense scavenger hunt.

-The hunt started out at BYU campus, with teams being made, and the first challenge was issued: a spelling bee with two teammates alternating spelling. It only took about 45ish minutes and the winning word zucchini.

-Next came south Provo and we had to find a certain building and behind it was a baseball field, we had to hit 3 balls to the outfield with the grip of the rackets before we could get our next clue. This was intense and thankfully we all got it pretty quick.

-Then back to campus to put together names of past players in order, including one of the girls still playing, Andie Young.

-This next part was none of our favorites, up Y mountain we went for our next clue. If you don't know what Y mountain is, here is some information: Y Mountain

-Back to campus to the soccer stadium to count all of these:
307 to be exact
-Then it was to this staple at BYU:
For those who don't know, we are the Cougars
-Back up to campus to take a picture with Brigham himself:

-Unique to Provo, a jumping picture in front of the Missionary Training Center

-Then to Bridal Veil Falls for our last challenge which was difficult. One person was chosen before to complete the task of untying twine tied in a ridiculous amount of knots with their hands behind their backs for our final clue and destination of the retreat.....

Long Overdue

This weekend was fantastic. The girls wanted the win, and they played to win. They played on Friday against an UNDEFEATED DU. They were a little nervous going into the match, but came out triumphant! They won the doubles point, then three more singles. Each match was tough and fought hard,  they truly did deserve the win; the score was 4-3.

Today (Saturday) the girls were ready to play against Nevada, and they played AWESOME! Totally ready, it was great to again win the doubles point, and then four more singles. They really did play HARD and aggressive, and were ready to do whatever it took to win...within the rules of course.

Christmas Party

Our fall semester is done, and now we are ready for competition in the WCC!!!! However, we did end the year with a bang; we had a team Christmas party at a local restaurant here in Provo, Spark. It was so fun, all of the team had drawn a secret sister and brought a gift for her along with a letter, everyone had a white elephant gift that they brought. Some of the gifts were creative, and some were sneaky. For example, Megan Price brought a toothpaste box and ended up picking her own gift and then opened it after the exchange was over and it was FULL of M&M’s. SNEAKY MEGAN!!!

It was a great time to be with the team as we all enjoyed each other’s company and the gifts. It was fun just to relax, eat and laugh. Here are some pictures from the night. ENJOY!!

Better Late Than Never!

Over the past month we played three matches. In the beginning of March our team went out to CA to play Fresno State and UCI. At our matches in CA we had a few tough losses but came back to Provo refocused. We had a two week break where we practiced hard to get ready for our home match vs. Oregon. This past weekend was our Oregon match and the girls played amazing. Everyone came out with a lot of energy and kept their intensity up the whole time to close out the match. Here are a few pictures of our team the last month! Go Cougars!

Beautiful CA Sunset!
